Autumn & Halloween Pipes & Cigars
Oh boy…do I have a problem. Some people have addictions…I mean, hobbies…some have expensive hobbies. Let’s face it, seems like no matter what hobby you have, it can get expensive. If you’re a fisherman it’s not just a fishing pole and tackle box, no, it’s lots of tackle, multiple poles, and lots and lots of gear…maybe even a boat! A hobby that starts out at $200 can quickly turn into $500, $1000 and more. Although in the grand scheme of things, I guess a $1000 hobby is much better than say, a massive car collection running into the millions. Right? Well, anyway, one of my hobbies is cigars and pipes (and pipe tobacco). And if you don’t know, many cigars are, on average, about $5 to$12 per stick. Pipes can be anywhere from $50 to $500 and the tobacco, it runs the gamut of $2 an ounce to unlimited. The hobby can add up pretty quickly and can get out of hand…or so I’ve heard. 😊 If you know me, I love Halloween and the Fall/Autumn season. And if I can mix my hobby of pipes and cigars and my love for Halloween and Autumn…Oh that’s my little slice of heaven. And lucky for me, I am able to do so thanks to some of the pipe makers, tobacconists and companies out there. Currently I own 13 pipes, and 5 of those pipes have to do with the best season and holiday. I have three Peterson (Ireland) “Dracula” pipes. They are beautiful; sandblasted black bowls with red stems having black swirls. Each is a different shape, but in the same series. Another is a Baraccini (Italy) Author “Halloween” pipe known as “Jack” which is sandblasted orange color with a black stem. The last is my newest procurement from Rattray (Scottish) called “Samhain” (pronounced Sow-Win …associated with Halloween or the Fall Harvest) with a green stem with black swirls and black sandblast round bowl with a green rim (one of the most expensive pipes I own and one of my new favorites). I absolutely love my Autumn/Halloween pipes and if there are more out there, you bet I’m going to seek them out. Along with the pipes, there are Fall/Autumn tobaccos that accompany the pipes nicely. Wonderful aromatic flavors like Maple Street, Autumn Evening, Scarecrow and Raking Leaves to name a few. Many with aromas such as nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa, pumpkin, maple syrup, raisin, fig, brown sugar …sounds delicious right? As for cigars, there are many out there with the season of Fall/Autum in mind. Tatiana has Harvest Moon, Nub has Nuance Fall Harvest and there are plenty out there with flavors of chocolate and coffee to embrace you and get you through the cool crisp season. Of all the cigars I have, the flavored Fall/Autumn are among my favorites. At this point I’m sure I have enough pipes, tobacco and cigars to last me a lifetime and although I could stop buying today…I probably won’t (as a smirk envelops my face).
